The Camping Mistral sustainability project is located in the heart of the Maira Valley. As part of the special protection zone of the Alpi Marittime National Park (Natura2000), we are passionate about protecting this unique environment and implementing sustainable measures in all areas.

In this manifesto, you will find the principles by which we live as a committed community and which apply during your stay at Camping Mistral.

By living and respecting them yourself, you will help us to preserve the authentic beauty of Valle Maira, protect its cultural heritage and promote the local economy.

Thank you!

Our sustainability manifesto: Camping Mistral Valle Maira Piemont

People - Social Sustainability

At Camping Mistral, people – our guests, employees, and partners – come first. With the following principles, we aim to do the right thing for them:

Respecting local culture and traditions

We respect the unique cultural heritage of Valle Maira, support local cultural organisations, train our employees and offer educational programmes that introduce our guests to the rich history of the valley and the region.

Supporting local businesses

We buy from sustainable, local shops and craft businesses to strengthen the regional economy and maintain cultural diversity.

Educate und Empower

We offer comprehensive educational programmes on sustainability and give our guests opportunities to actively participate in our sustainability initiatives.

Fairness in the team

We ensure that all employees are treated with dignity and respect, receive fair wages and have opportunities for professional development and training.

Inclusive community

We promote an open and accessible atmosphere for people from all cultural, ethnic and social backgrounds. This ensures equal opportunities and respect for all.

Be a good neighbour

We ensure that the voices of the local population are heard and respected and encourage our guests to participate in our events and involve the local community.

How to get actively involved:

  • Respect local traditions: Be mindful, respect and adhere to local customs and traditions.
  • Engage with respect: Base your interaction with other guests, our employees, partners and the local community on respect and treat everyone equally.
  • Support the local community: Choose to spend money in local shops to support the local economy.
  • Promote sustainability: Choose products and services that are in line with our sustainability values to maintain the cultural diversity and economic viability of the region.
  • Get involved: Take part in our sustainability initiatives and educational programmes to play an active role in protecting the Maira Valley.

Planet - Ecological Sustainability

At Camping Mistral, we carefully assess our use of the planet’s natural resources to preserve them for future generations.

Leave it better

At the end of the season, when we clean up the camp and dismantle everything, we always leave this protected piece of land better than we found it.

Sustainable infrastructure

We use environmentally friendly building materials and renewable energy sources for all the facilities and equipment we manage.

Conserving resources

We implement water-saving measures and energy-efficient practices throughout the camp.

Waste management

We practice strict waste separation, recycling and composting to minimise the amount of waste that ends up in landfill.

Protecting biodiversity

We protect the local flora and fauna by preserving natural habitats and supporting conservation projects in the park. We encourage our guests to participate in these initiatives.

Sustainable transport

We encourage the use of environmentally friendly modes of transport such as cycling, hiking, public transport and electric vehicles. We provide an e-charging station for cars at our partner organisation Locanda Mistral. E-bikes can be charged at the campsite.

How to get actively involved:

  • Leave no trace: Make sure you don't leave anything behind and dispose of your waste correctly by separating and disposing of it properly.
  • Conserve resources: Be mindful during your stay and reduce your consumption of water and energy. Yes, maybe even put your phone away! ☺
  • Get involved in nature conservation: Take part in camp activities that support local conservation projects and protect our unique park area.
  • Use ecological products: Help maintain soil health by using only natural cleaning and care products. Please do NOT use chemicals or toxins.
  • Respect your surroundings: Respect the tranquillity of nature and contribute to the peaceful atmosphere.

Profit - Economic Sustainability

Economic sustainability also plays a role at Camping Mistral. After all, what is the point of profit if the world around us doesn’t benefit as well?

Investing in our community

We invest 5% of our profit in local community projects and environmental protection measures.

Local sourcing and purchasing

We source goods and services from local suppliers to support local businesses and promote the local economy.

Giving back

We support our employees by providing training and economic opportunities to promote their growth and future success.

How to get actively involved:

  • Conscious consumption: Be aware of how your consumption impacts the local economy and environment and choose local organisations and their products and services to support businesses in the valley.
  • Participate in events and workshops: Take part in our workshops and courses to support local teachers and businesses.
  • Come back again! Increase your economic impact by visiting us again and again. We look forward to your return! ☺
