Bee

Biene

Bees are far more than honey makers: a single colony can number up to 60,000 insects and pollinate several million blossoms a day. In the alpine flora of the Valle Maira they are indispensable – many wildflowers, fruit varieties and even herbs would not thrive without them.

Especially fascinating: it is not only honeybees that do vital work – there are over 950 wild bee species in Italy. Some are highly specialised and nest in the ground, in old walls or in dead wood. That is exactly why, at Camping Mistral, we make a point of preserving such refuges – in wildflower areas, stone structures and wood stacks.

👉 Tip: pause by a flowering meadow – the hum and buzz is tremendous.
